DEARBORN BOSS REUNION BIG NEWS

We have some very exciting news that should make it more convenient for Boss Reunion attendees to participate in every planned event this year!

Understanding that your vacation days are valuable and many of the Reunion attendees will be traveling long distances to attend, we have been successful in combining both the Mustang Plant (Auto Alliance International - AAI) tour and track event into a single, full day event at one location.

Initially, we had the plant tour scheduled on Thursday, August 4 and the test track event on Friday August 5.  Well, Ford and the Mustang team stepped up to our request and has set up both events for us on Friday, August 5 at the Mustang Plant in Flat Rock, Michigan.

For those not familiar with the location, it is approximately 20 miles south of The Henry (our host hotel in Dearborn).  The address is 1 International Drive, Flat Rock, MI.  The tentative arrival time is 9:00 AM (stay tuned as that could change).  Our full day will include:
Our first mass gathering of the Bosses for the Reunion Weekend.
A Mustang Plant Tour (a special event exclusively for Boss Reunion registered owners.  The plant is not open to the public.  A very rare chance to see where it all happens.
Bosses on the Track * - Boss drivers/owners will have the opportunity to participate in "paced" parade laps on the AAI test track.  Likely the only chance to ever do this.  This THE track where Mustang development and testing takes place - high banking and long straights      http://www.flickr.com/photos/bossmustang/sets/72157626534977243/
          *  We are waiting for legal approval from Ford...which we should have soon and will confirm.

If your BUCKET LIST includes "Tour the Mustang Assembly Plant" and "Drive my Boss on the Mustang Test Track" ............get your plan/caravan together for Dearborn August 5-6-7.

Also, for Saturday, we have the Rousch facility reserved from  11 am to 4 pm. The plan is have the concours event there. You'll be able to see the trailered cars and then take a tour of the Rousch facility. I'm told it's a cool place for a FORD fan. And depending on races and availability, some Rousch family members may be there to mingle. Lisa estimates the cost to be $13 per person. We'll have the place to ourselves. There's a dinning facility next door called Herc’s Roast Beef and Spirits where we can gather and everyone can oder what pleases them.

http://www.roushcollection.com/facility.html

The concours event is still in the planning stages. But expect it to be limited to 10 to 20 cars with a cost of appox $120 per car. This will cover the cost of the tent we would like to have. We will require pictures and VIN of your car prior the event. We want only the best of the best under the tent.

Lisa also plans to check into group rates for the Henry Ford Museum for Thursday, for those coming in early. She'll be posting details here sometime soon.

She will also want a head count of sorts for Saturday. It won't be a commitment but more of a head count on who plans to be there.

Hey guys i live about 10mins away from the plant and if your going south on I-75 it's on the right side and you can't miss the large lettered Auto Alliance Iinernational sign on the plant. I have friends who work there and have made a few plant tours myself and it's great. Hope this helps the out of towners. Ronney

This sounds like it will be a blast!  I did the plant tour with MOCSEM last year.  Getting to take a parade lap on the track will be icing on the cake.  Way to go Team!  and Thanks for putting this together!  Definetly one NOT to miss.  The Mustang memories show is another one you don't want to miss either.  Great Job Guys.  I can't wait.

If your not familiar with AAI in Flat Rock.  Google Earth it.  You'll get a great view of the facility and test track.  I believe alot of the early press photos were taken on that track.

Wow! I can't wait. I got delivery of my 2012 GT Mustang a couple of weeks ago, it's one of the best cars that I have ever owned. I am excited to see where it was made. :)

That would be correct. Lisa plans to have discount tickets for the Henry Ford museum for Thursday if you want to do that.

The Henry Ford Museum is BEYOND worth checking out if you have the time.  Nothing quite like it anything like it in the US.

Gearheads like us can easily spend half a day in the place.  That said, you should be aware that a renovation is taking place in automotive area  http://www.thehenryford.org/events/aalMakeover.aspx

If you have not visited adjacent Greenfield Village before, you could spend another half day taking it in   http://www.thehenryford.org/village/index.aspx

Some questions

1.  How many of the 60 are 1969 & 1970 Boss'

2.  Are the plant tour, test track session, & the Roush tour exclussive Boss events or will others be included?

See everyone in August

MOSCEM has opened signup for AAI tour.  See "Schedule for BOSS Reunion" heading.  Follow link in text for sign up.  I just finished mine, simple!!  (Thanks).

Special note:  MOSCEM lists the AAI tour as being open to ALL MOSCEM members, Boss Reunion & Bullitt partipants.  With only 150 people allowed on the tour, Boss 302 Reunion participants will need to get their slots ASAP.

As I questioned earlier.  I wonder if the Test Track session and the Roush tour will be a Boss Reunion exclusive or will also be open to all?

No offense to the MOSCEM members or the Bullitt participants (looking forward to seeing all of you also), but I was hoping the Boss Reunion participants would be doing events as a group.  Especially the Track Session and the Roush tour, should be GREAT to get pictures of all the Boss' together at these locations.

Thanks to the MOSCEM folks for helping to arrange all this.

Hi, can you give us a breakdown of cars coming so far? 69 or 70, Mustang or Cougar, 302 or 429. Maybe I will bring the Cougar instead of Mustang. Let us know.

                                                                                                     Thanks Jim

I had just planned to show up as I live 45 miles away but I can now see I need to register early.  How do I do that?  I plan to bring both the race car and street car.

Good Morning All,

Just wanted to update you on activities for Thursday, I did check into discount pricing for the Henry Museum and Greenfield Village, they only offer 10%.  Because discount tickets must be purchased in advance and the group discount is not very significant we are going to leave purchase of those tickets up to each individual.  After talking to a number of individuals that have visited the Henry Museum and Greenfield Village it sounds like a FANTASTIC experience.  So for those of you who are arriving Wed. and Thursday we recommend you put that on your schedule of things to do.  It is a MUST SEE while in Dearborn.
Henry Ford Museum - allow minimum of 3 hours to tour.  They are featuring a Civil Ward display
Greenfield Village 81 acres of pure history - allow a minimum of 5 hours to to tour the village
www.fordmuseum.com
Other things to see and do:  Automotive Hall of Fame www.automotivehalloffame.org
Detroit Zoo www.detroitzoo.org

If you have any specific questions just shoot me an email.
Looking forward to seeing you in Dearborn.  I plant to arrive in Dearborn late afternoon on Wed.
Be sure to complete the pdf registration form for the  Roush Collection and Boss dinner get together.  We need everyone to pre register so we have an accurate count of attendees.  Thanks , Lisa
