I believe that 0F02G194431 was previously owned by a Registry member:

0F02G194431 was for sale before I bought my 1970 BOSS 302 and I really thought it was a excellent buy for the price.  Unfortunately, it was too far away for me to consider, even though I ended up having to have the car I bought shipped by 18-wheeler 1600 miles.

I would be surprised if it makes it to $60K in today's market. Not the best time of the year to sell, and not the best market. Good luck with the sale and I hope you do well. Very nice car.

Good looking car, always liked that color and W code Detroit Locker too. Not a bad combo.
Hey Steve, weren't you always looking for a nice W car?? :) :)

I watched the videos of the owner driving the BOSS 302 and he seemed to not have any difficulty with the manual steering.  Something to be said about keeping a BOSS 302 in original condition as one of my neighbors said that they could hear when I start my car and they live about a block away!

This is the first time I have ever seen the words "Detroit Locker Differential" literally spelled out on an Eminger invoice or Marti report! For example, my Medium Blue Metallic W-Code Eminger invoice only said "Traction-Lok Differential" and "Optional Axle Ratio" yet it had a Detroit Locker in it when I bought it in 1978. I gather now that means that my W code 4.30 came factory equipped with only a Traction-Lok, and that the Locker was added later?

Prior to seeing it on this invoice, I always assumed that a W-Code 4.30 meant Detroit Locker equipped!

My BOSS 302 was built at the Dearborn Plant on February 26, 1970 and the Ford invoice and Marti report shows that it had a Traction-Lok 4.30 rear end, but the build sheet and axle tag show that it had a Detroit Locker.  I believe that the W-Codes that were equipped with a Detroit Locker had the option show up on the Ford Invoice later in the model year, probably starting in April 1970.  0T02G161918 was built on June 8, 1970 and the Marti Report shows that it had a Detroit Locker:

Okay, that’s very interesting about your February Dearborn car - Thanks! That the BAT invoice and your Marti example are both June cars seem to bear out your belief. The specifics on the Eminger invoice that I mention in my previous post are for a car that I don’t own anymore, but a copy of that invoice that I still have is date stamped March 18, 1970. That also fits in with the dates of your theory. Hopefully others here will chime in with more substantiation for further proof.

This accidental discovery has really been enlightening for me!

Wow - that is an excellent previous thread with a lot of information on this interesting phenomenon of early W-Code production.

Thanks for sharing!

Mark - here you go. However, it's only a scan of a photocopy. I didn't have the technology to scan a color document back then, but at least I still have this now.

I can't figure out how to post an image on this Forum. I was able to post the previous color Eminger invoice here because somehow it worked getting it from the BAT link. The SAAC Forum has a Gallery where you can upload pictures and then post them from there. That's what I had to do to post this b&w image of my old invoice here.

I don't see a Gallery feature on this Forum, I'm going to PM you for some help if that's okay...

Thanks,
Kieth

Kieth - Thanks for posting the Ford invoice for 0F02G169826 as I've been compiling a listing of BOSS 302 W-Codes.  I actually have accounted for the car you owned previously as I saw it for sale in Hemmings in January 2014.  As for posting photos on The BOSS 302 Registry, they have had to restrict posting photos as they have had problems with hackers.  I use the website "imgur" to post photos and here is the Ford invoice for my car:

Anyone know who the seller was on this auction?  BaT gives no contact info (which I understand).  I caught the auction too late and I'm interested in BossinWaiting's old car - thanks for any leads.  Steve H.

I just noticed this today.  If you have any questions on the car, let me know.  It was a very clean car, but there is a little puffery going on with the zero bodywork comment.  If you look at my original ad, you can see where I noted the bubbling on the doors and on the one rear quarter.  Nothing requiring more than some butt welded patches, but I have a more strict interpretation of what the truth is.
In addition, it looks like they straightened the driver's side front apron that had some ripples where it was hit and the fender replaced with an NOS piece.  Again, a clean and rare car.  I only sold it to buy my 66 Shelby.

BossinWaiting - I did indeed read your original For Sale post from 2010 and duly noted the honest, detailed description - it's very helpful.  I recently retired and am beginning the search - I had a 70 B2 when I was 19 (not a W-code, but with a 4.30 locker) - so the BaT auction for your old W-code car caught my eye.  I'm still pondering the idea of either obtaining a solid, honest car (like this one) and sending it for restoration (at a yet undetermined level) or just look for an already-restored car.  I've read many opinions regarding both courses of action.  I would like to ask, if not too much a bother - if you've had a chance to examine the current photos (not very high def) of the car?  Does it appear to you, that it is as you sold it in 2011?  You said it was going to a "good home".  Would you know if there have been other owners between the buyer you sold it to and the current seller?  Any thoughts or opinions you may have would be much appreciated.  Have a great Thanksgiving.

Steve H.

P.S.  I'm in an "almost" similar situation to yours, if I acquire a Boss, I'll have to give up my 2017 Shelby GT350.

Steve,
I sold it to an Internal Medicine Doctor in NE that had a collection of Corvettes.  The car is essentially the way I sold it, but the suspension and brakes look to have weathered quite a bit.  I would check the date on the tires as they may be the ones that were on it when I sold it.  They had basically zero miles, but I bought them in 2006.  I still have all the receipts from the parts I replaced.  When I sold it, it had a rev limiter, a restored rim blow wheel, and an  extra restored N case rear with a 3.91 Locker.

Steve,
I sold it to an Internal Medicine Doctor in NE that had a collection of Corvettes.

BossinWaiting - I talked to the current owner (Josh at Pacific Automotive Group) and he gave me the story of your car since you sold it  Apparently, the NE doctor had intended to have the car restored (to what degree I don't know) by Josh and his partner and then taken to BJ for auction after being purchased from you.  The car was "refreshed" (Josh said it was painted at this time and some other things done) but then the owner decided to keep it.  The good doctor unfortunately passed away suddenly a few years ago, at which point, later, his family sold it to the restorer (Josh).  It seems pretty clear that at some point the car was left outside for a while (look at the leaf spring clamps from your original 2010 posting and the current picture of the same parts - yours looked brand new, now, they are quite rusty). Josh does not have the rev limiter or the rim-blow wheel but does have the 3.91 locker.  Anyway, because of the fact that you had owned and so carefully documented the car, and that there had only been one owner since you had it, and that it is a solid (but not perfect), honest flat hood W code Boss, I bought it.  When it arrives here in Florida, I'll undoubtedly bother you as I go through the vehicle ;)  Thanks again for your help Bob - it made the difference.  Steve

Congrats!  I am very sorry to hear about the passing of the Dr. that bought it from me.  While I never met him, he was a very nice guy and I believe fairly young.  IIRC, his wife had family in Western NY where I live.

Whereabouts in Florida are you?
