Hi Steve,

I asked the same thing...

Jeff moved my post over to the Trans Am forum:http://www.boss302.com/smf/index.php?topic=83103.0 (http://www.boss302.com/smf/index.php?topic=83103.0)

Theres not much activity in that section of the forum which is why I put it here in General Discussion for more exposure but I guess Jeff felt it was in the wrong place....

This "car" was a bare chassis built as a bare chassis. It's history is detailed in the links below. Yes it will most likely be moved again because the Trans Am section is where it belongs.

Look at the history of "Bodies in white" #41971.

I just returned from a deep dive into the above threads about this car. Fascinating! … Apparently it sold at auction this past January for only $89,100. Ouch...Current seller is clearly trying to flip it at a major profit..Pretty cool it has a letter of provenance from Bud Moore regarding the build though.

No one is saying this Mustang does not have BM provenance...  Bud and Greg Moore both helped the then builder in this BIW #4 project, however he went with the "flip it" mode and made it another SBY BM Mustang, despite getting the knowledge that it WAS slated to be the Donnie Allison ride in T/A for 1972.  Sadly that is what "SHOULD" of been done, IMO!

Boys,
Just a bit more to add on all of this (IF it matters), the Body in White cars have no VIN numbers, so you can never register it for any street use. That said, it CAN be VIN'ed through the Highway Patrol. This process is not an easy one, and it MAY be classified as a 'kit car' or a 'reconstructed vehicle' therefore making it a tainted automobile in my opinion. Lastly, as many others have commented, this car (unique as it is/was) will be an expensive open track car. Again, I will agree, (RIP) TX427Cobra's car would be a better investment for a fraction of the cost.

MANY here cautioned the "builder" of this bare chassis unfinished car that he would LOSE when he sold it because there was NO history other than the "was supposed to be". He refused to listen and went on to lose. While it is faithfully finished , BRAND NEW, and a beautiful car , it STILL has no history!
