PS pump color
« on: February 23, 2006, 02:21:40 pm »
what color is the PS pump on a 70 B2. Everyone I have seen is that light Metallic blue color but someone has told me that they were black from the Factory. I have a new reconditioned pump that's black and if the blue color is right then I will need to know what the color # is and where I can get it.
Thanks, Brian

From a TSB published on approx 10/68

PS pump color
TRW = Black (tag , bottom line 2nd didget W)
Ford Thompson = Blue (tag center line F in line)

So check the pump ... only wway to tell what color it was

Delstar DAR #12366 "Chesapeake Blue Metallic" is what I was told to use by Mr. P

Does go by a different name now I believe, something Blue Poly. It was posted here a while back.

Exact blu/grn metallic match unlike the spray can paint available.

Hey Brian the color paint code is DAU 4086- its dark saphire poly blue, you can get it in acrylic enamel or ?? use that code & any paint shop can transfer to what ever kind of paint you want. This is a 99% match

Would this colour still be the best match and is it correct for the 69 cars too?

I also was curious about the black considering the latest 69 CC (Jim Boyd's car) that sold and noticed that pump was black"

Bosswish, as stated about the trw, was black and my understanding was a service pump from Ford was also black

But to answer your question as yes it would be correct for 69

I have a NOS Ford Thompson pump that's the aqua/blue color, so saying that service parts were black can't be accurate.

Most likely, as was stated above, the manufacturer determined the color, not whether it was a service part or not.
