255-60-15 Radial T/A's on the front....
« on: March 16, 2006, 06:47:00 pm »
I have rebuilt the front end with new upper and lower control arms and when I reinstall the wheels the tires rub.  Anyone running this size with no problems???  Or is it the style of Uppers that I have used--then seem to have some extra stamping protruding past the ball joint.  I tried some 245s off by B2 and they still rub but not as much.

I have considered persuading the outside lip of the upper control arm via a reshape with Mr. Hammer but as a last resort.

I had 275-50/15 (BFG T/As, circa 1977-78) at all fours a few years ago.   The front tires rubbed slightly against the steering assy bolts on the lower insides of the wheel well.  They only rubbed when the steering was at its full stop.  Fine otherwise, and they filled the fenders nicely.  Have you checked the new arms against the geometry of your originals?
Since I restored the BOSS - she wears BFG 235-60/15s.  Nice ride, enough meat for street driving and no problems.   Cheers, Tom.
