Boss 351 Production Colors

A continuing effort to recover and post production color and interior trim data for the B1 drivers and enthusiasts.  If anyone has additional information available you are welcome to post it here.  The data below is based on the Marti Elite Reports, and accounts for 1605/1806 B1s (89%) Cheers, Tom.

Yes, this is from the elite report on two of my cars. I don't have an elite report on my 135 car but it is Dark Green Metallic/Black Standard.

Interested in seeing the rest of the color stats when we can get enough data.

I will try to post some pictures soon.

i don't seem to see any numbers on that combo.

hmmm, i dont see a color i know of.  the boss brothers from marysville,ks had bright blue metalic and a light blue metalic b1's.

The color/trim production data is available from Kevin Marti and his Elite Report.  You must order this report to get the specific color/trim production numbers.  Tom

I have an update to the production colors (source: internet)  There were 246 Bright Blue Metallic (6) Boss 351s produced, and 29 of those had the Blue Vinyl Standard interior (1B).  I will update the list up top, cheers.  Tom

I sent for the Elite Marti report on my black Boss (w deluxe red interior) a couple of weeks ago. I'll post the numbers here when I get it, if someone doesn't beat me to it.

You don't really want to see pictures. It's a project that's been sitting since 1979, but I'll give you the history I know. It was bought in '79 by one of two brothers with the engine half rebuilt. He was going to finish it but never got around to it. His brother bought a '68 California Special, lightly hit in the back, who was going to fix it, and never did. Sometime over the years, the tranny and hood disappeared, along with the dist., carb. and rev limiter. I bought both in 2003, suspended work on a '69 Fairlane convertible I was restoring and spent 2 years restoring the CS, since all the parts were there. I'm working on the Fairlane again while I track down Boss parts. I have the hood, ram air and a RUG-AV1 tranny now so will be starting on the Boss as soon as I get the Fairlane further along. It's a major rust project and I'm finding myself having to hand build a lot of the sheet metal, since convertible parts are different than hardtop. I just don't want 2 projects going at once again.

Wow, how did I miss this for a whole month!    Sorry. Anyway, nothing yet. I guess they're going to use the whole 6 months. I'll send them an email and get an update though.
PS, It isn't much but here's a pic. Like I said, the price was right.

I just heard back from them. They say it'll be 6 months and then said July or August (7 or 8 months). Good thing I'm not counting on it for something really important.

I recall years ago Mustang Monthly had a pair of Boss 351, one of which was Calypso Coral. If I recall correctly this was the correct factory color for that particular Boss. I will attempt to locate the issue and send more info if I find it.

I read from other sources three B1s exist in this color.  Although Calypso Coral was not a color offered in 1971, perhaps these B1s were an early production batch where the '70 production color was feasible.  I think one was in the Ohio area, and one in the SWUS (Arizona?) - no idea about the third.  Cheers, Tom.
