Welcome 351 - I remember my first
« on: January 12, 2004, 11:07:01 am »
Welcome  - I know that this will be a great addition to our B-2 site.

I remember my first encounter with a Boss Mustang.  It was the summer of 1972; I was 10 years old out riding my metallic gold, 3-speed stingray. Yep it had a banana seat with the large gold glitter flakes and the kick butt sissy bar that extended 3 feet up into the air. Hand brakes, Monkey hanger handle bars, and a rear slick. I was the S#$ts..

I was out cruising and headed to the 7-11 store up over the hill. Anybody remember when a 7-11 was open from 7:00am to 11:00 pm? ?.. There it was in the 7-11 parking lot, A Black on White Boss 351, Magnums, Ram Air and it just looked fast.  It certainly left an impression on me ? I new I had to have a Boss Mustang.

I spent many days hanging out in the parking lot at 7-11 (It belonged to the clerk) and know that I spent too much time in the store pestering the man with the Boss. That was my first encounter at 10 years of age. When I was old enough and had enough money I swore that I would buy a Boss 351.

When I was old enough and had the money  I came to my senses and bought a Boss 302 ? LOL.

Great cars and welcome to the Page.

JD,
Funny but I have many of the same thoughts of riding "MY" five speed stingray with the bannana seat, and monkey bars, sissy bar and "flower power" STP decal. but the guy down the street from school had a 1967 Gt500 shelby that would sit there idling for about ten minutes every morning. I swore I would own one of those, I have owned many muscle cars over the years, but not one of those.

Proof that there is a rear to the 1969, and a nose shot of the 1970 showing off the Sportswheel Covers

That's what you need John. Find a 1967 GT 500 without a drive train, and build your 427 tunnel port for it. As soon as I get done with my Boss 429 that's what I have to do next. I bought one last year from a guy in GA. No drive train except the rear. The plastic is all there and in great shape. The only thing missing besides the engine and trans, was the under dash guages. If I can do it you can too. You sound like a great mechanic and a real go getter.
JUST DO IT!
