LED Dash Lights & re-chromed cluster
« on: July 21, 2009, 06:26:08 pm »
This weekend I put a LED dash light and clock light kit in my '69 Boss.  I just got the basic kit in blue from NPD which is supposed to most closely resemble the original color.  What a big difference!  The gauges are now much easier to read.  Kind of wish I had gone with green however as that may look more original.  The kit was easy to install and the directions easy to read.  Recommend it to anyone.  Once everything was tore apart I also used a Mequires plastic polish which brought new life to my lenses.  Not as good as new but definetly 50% or more improvement.

I also installed a re-chromed woodgrain dash cluster from Steve's Restoration Specialties in Lucas, TX.  Fantastic guy to work with and his product was top notch.  My interior looks soooo good now I enjoy even more sitting behind the wheel.  Unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to do the clock side as well so now that part of my dash looks a little crappy.  Gives me an easy winter project I guess.

THANK YOU for "reading" and confirming that the instructions are so good.
You would be surprised don't and "can't change a light blub!   (65/66 style more so)

Looks like the dimmer function is retained with the "Elite" kit only for $70.  Thinking about doing this on my 70.

the dimmer barely made a difference in my car with that kit.  i ended up going with less bright bulbs in the center as it was too much for my personal taste (center pods were brighter than outers). when i changed those center bulbs, the dimmer had no noticeable impact.
