« on: July 28, 2011, 03:01:44 pm »
Still waiting on someone to post some pics from Tulsa but I have seen nothing.... Hopefully the reunion will be better documented. Wish I was going but wife just started a new assignment and can't get away. Just my luck.

I guess you didn't like the pics I posted from Tulsa. What didn't you like and what would you liked to have seen?

I thought you were referencing the BOSS events. There will be plenty of pictures taken mostly by magazines.

Thanks to all for the pictures of the show. Hopefully this wasn't the last reunion. I would encourage everyone to come out to Tulsa next year and not let the late model Shelbys totally take over. Centrally located with two nice hotels (Marriot & Hilton) and big parking lots not to mention the Hallet track nearby if you are into that. Hope to see you all there.

The biggest problem with BOSS cars at a Shelby event is that the BOSS cars take a back seat to the whole event. A Shelby organization isn't going to focus on our cars and I don't blame them. Would be like us featuring a Shelby on this site and at the show. This show in Dearborn, the focus was on BOSS cars.

9F02G196848, I guess I just like them all and can't understand why the focus has to be one or the other. Wouldn't a Boss , Cobra Jet and Shelby Super Convention be the ultimate? I understand what you are saying though as it seems there are some in the Mustang hobby that are only interested in one thing, that which is parked in their garage and anything else really ain't even worthy of a look.

I haven't noticed it here on the Boss site as most Boss guys like any Mustang with a high performance engine but for reasons I don't understand on the CJ site there seems to be some people there with an obvious contempt towards the Boss cars. Not everybody but some. I don't get it. I like them both and if I had to choose between the Boss and CJ I don't know which way I would go. I have had a B2 for 27 of the last 40 years versus just 3 years with a CJ but I will say this. Any Boss guy that has his head in the sand and is overlooking a CJ doesn't know what they are missing. The same goes for the CJ guy. Maybe a Boss won't be pulling any stumps but it will look and sound great trying!

ex2409pilot,

I'm with you on that.
I love Mustangs. Period...
I too left my options open for a CJ/SCJ but more leaning towards the 302.

I got to know a nice lady who is a vendor at Carlisle and she stated that of all the shows throughout the year, the Mustang community is the most friendly and we respected among eachother.

I think there should be links to each of the forums in order to tighten the Mustang brothers and sisters even more so.

This is my first out of town Mustang/BOSS event and was well worth the drive to it. Great people and the Ford resources are a very humble and fun group.

I love ALL Mustangs too, always have, but Bosses have always been my favorite because of the Trans-Am racing legacy.  I agree with Randy, I remember the early SAAC National in Dearborn 86, we had the 2nd Boss convention there, it was great, but it was nothing like this past weekend.  We were the ONLY Mustangs that got to park all together in the same area.  It was awesome to look as far as you could see and it was Boss after Boss!  Great job by Randy and crew and thanks to MOCSEM for letting the Bosses take center stage right at home in Dearborn.  Great location and a beautiful day.
I met so many old friends and many new ones, loved every minute of all three days.  THANKS for a great Mustang Memory that will be very hard to top.  Can't wait until the next gathering.....

It's sad, at least to me, how the Mustang hobby has evolved over the years with each faction (Boss, CJ and Shelby) splintering off on their own. I remember when I first joined SAAC in 75 or 76, right after it's inception, that was the only place, to my knowledge, where all the performance oriented Mustang people could correspond, buy/sell cars, parts, etc.

Although I never owned a Shelby or made one of their national shows I attended a few local ones in the 70's and 80's and there was just as many Bosses and Cobra Jets as there were Shelbys. Now however, I finally make my first Tulsa show in '10 and there was like 2 B2's, 5 B9's and countless late model GT500's. I guess I just long for the good ole days when we all partied under one roof....

...A good buddy (Shelby Dan with his wife Cathy) drove with us in his '69 GT350 to the Reunion this past weekend. I invited him, both of us knowing his Shelby wouldn't be included in some of the activities.  He felt very welcome, and I know he was glad he went. He had to take a lot of abuse from us Boss guys though, which was all in good fun.  He told me last night he's looking at '69 B302s (to buy) ! I guess the weekends past events left quite an impression on him ? The people and stories make the event... The cars can't drive themselves there.  -Jim
