2013 BOSS colors released

Just received a call from my dealer indicating colors for the 2013 base Boss 302.

Release said:

Initial draft-Canada
8-22-2011
Exterior colors
Gotta Have It Green
School Bus Yellow
Grabber Blue
White
Red

No mention of the LS color scheme yet.

If I get the base Boss, it will be School Bus Yellow

That matches what was shown in the Speed video. So I'll go out on a limb and say the LS will be White or Black, with a Gold/Yellow stripe.

here is even more detail, and note they've patented the "70 Boss Livery", which to me, means the Hockey Stick stripe.

I read somewhere that one of the LS colours will be black and gold, (a nod to the Smokie Yunick race boss from 70.

Should have used the Grabber name for the School Bus Yellow (Grabber Orange) and Gotta Have It Green (Grabber Green).

And the name Gotta Have it Green sounds like a cartoon type name Plymouth/Dodge used on their colors in 69/70's.

Missing is Competition Orange - so sounds like the 12 was the right year for me.

Apparently School Bus Yellow will be the color for those that want an orange or a yellow - but will get something in between.

Yes we all heard PJ in the Boss 302 Speed Channel special say the color was School Bus Yellow. And we see in in Donald Farr's new book that Bud Moore says it was DSBY to stand out. Strange in Farr's first book page 88 on the Laguna Seca race report it says 3 Bud Moore Grabber Orange Boss 302s rolled up to inspection, and in his new book page 86 on the same Laguna Seca race report it drops the Grabber Orange (might not have sounded good to say 3 school bus yellow Boss 302's rolled up to inspection). Regardless of where the color came from it has been known as Grabber Orange for 42 years, so they should have stayed with the Grabber theme. Grabber Orange, Grabber Green, and it did get Grabber Blue. IMHO

I think the point Brian is/was trying to make is that Ford marketing felt the "school bus yellow" nomenclature would appeal to an audience that follows and KNOWS these cars, especially their racing heritage.  Also, Parnelli has had quite a bit of input/influence (however you want to interpret it) on the new Boss, and thus felt that the name Parnelli and Bud referred to them by helps solidify that image.  Interesting in that the current run of Shelby GT500's has offered Grabber Orange (by that name) with white stripes.  That was my second choice when I went shopping for a Shelby - fortunately, I found my first choice (red with white stripes), but that Grabber Orange with white stripes is one striking car.  Can't wait to see the 2013 Boss in that color - it will be my FIRST choice when I go shopping next year for a Boss!!tatus post

That's right, and my other point is that it isn't just a name change, but a different (than Grabber Orange) color. I sent a can of paint to Jim Farley at Ford..........

School Bus Yellow will be a popular color due to it being the only yellow/orange for 2013 - but it won't be popular because of the name.

I had a hard time deciding on the 12 vs. the 13. I've always wanted a GO 70 car, even considering at some stage to paint my blue car orange, but didn't.

However, I also really like the C-69 stripes. Eventually I decided that getting the 12 car with the C stripes was like having a bit of both, and went with getting a white 12 car, because I like the contrast alot.

So, I'm happy, would like to have SYNC in my daily driver though.....
