Gus,
I know I should know, but who was driving that #82 blue Boss?  Great photos and thanks for sharing, I remember seeing how Parnelli's Boss looked at the END of the race, neat to see it at the start of the race......

That was John Hall from Canada in the blue #82 Boss. I think that car was destroyed, or so I have been tolded.

Great blasts from the past.  I live in Arcadia, California, the former homes of Foulger Ford and George Follmer.  Good to know we're famous for something other than Seabiscuit and Santa Anita Racetrack.

Sigh........  I live less than 1/4 mile from what used to be Riverside Intl Raceway - now the Moreno Valley Mall (going into bankruptcy AGAIN) and stacked up townhomes with mostly 20-somethings and 30-somethings living in them that have NO CLUE about the sacred ground they live on.  I was there (with my son Eric) for the last drag race and worked security (part time) for the last NASCAR race.  Many of us lobbied to have the place declared a historical land site, but Franz Duda, the owner, (I think that's his name) was more interested in the money.  What a shame.....

Great pictures Gus, my first and only Riverside visit was for the Mickey Thompson Off-road Nationals in 1981, i was just 21 and purchased at the time what seemed like the most expensive($1800NZD) air ticket to travel from down under, had to sell my first mustang(68GT FB) to come to America, well California really and remember think this place was in the middle of "NO Where"!!! but, atleast i can say i've been to Riverside and my other great memory was several visits to Ascot Park in Gardena, also long gone!!

Gus, those photos are fantastic.  Thanks for posting them!

Dale, believe it or not, I, too, was at that 1981 MT Off Road Race.  I was working, as Bridgestone was the sponsor and I worked at the Ad Agency on the Bridgestone account.  The sponsorship negotiations between Bridgestone and MT created the opportunity for me to sit down with the man himself for a few meetings.
