Boss Eliminator for sale
« on: March 31, 2012, 11:53:29 am »
Has anyone thought about the yellow 70 car for sale on Hemmings site? We've seen it here & I (my opinion) think that this car is a really great time capsule. Now of course I didn't win the lottery last night, but for a car: no rear spoiler install, that funny word rear end, & woodgrain install(by dealer) Not too far out of line?

Thought Eliminators came with 8000 RPM tach, this one has 6000 RPM and are those wheels right?
Not to mention the door speakers and yellow overspray onto the black engine compartment by the cowl.
Just saying for that kind of money.

Actually, some early cars got 6k tachs, just as some SCJ cars did not receive staggered rear shocks. My Pastel Blue Boss 302 Eliminator is one of the first eliminators built and it has a 6k tach, and it was fully documented as so. This car is also a super drag pack car................very very rare.

So all 69 BOSS 302's and 70's had 8000 RPM tach's if they came with them.
And your sayin an early 70 Eliminator BOSS 302 came with a 6000 RPM tach? Surely Ford would have fixed this by 70.
How would Ford let a car with a 6150 Rev limiter leave the Factory with a 6000 RPM tach?
It's a nice story..  one I'm not buying.
And what exactly is your documentation.
Bosscougars.. love to hear your take.

It was an original paint car, it was certified by Dave Wyrwas (he is the previous owner and Cougar Eliminator Registry) as original, the car should also have staggered rear shocks and it does not. It was a 100% original car with original paint before we started the restoration and can be verified by Dave, and I have the original build sheet for the car and Marti. Furthermore my fully documented SCJ eliminator 4 speed did not have staggered rear shocks even though it should (and Bosscougars used to own that car). Guess what, they built some cars with exceptions, it was a different time. Hope this clears up your questions.

Frank i see you posted that you send McKeever a pm, why not just post for all to see?

Howdy Scott! I thought the owner of the yellow (Drag-Pak) OK I typed it...Kill me later, said he was going to sell it. He didn't really want to just keep the car & not drive it. Kind of stalled with the pricetag though?

I just tried to verify what has been said. I also tried to post here and the message disappeared after telling me that there was a post while I was typing. I don't type very fast so it AIN'T easy. Also I said that I have a magazine somewhere with a 1970 Boss 302 article. The car was being test driven by somebody from the magazine. The guy made a comment about the car running out of tach before hitting the rev limiter. You could see the 6000 RPM tach in the picture of the dash. It was a 4:30 car. Since most if not all 1969 and 1970 Cougars [not just Eliminators]came with tachs you can see how easy it would have been to do the screw -up. I personally had two 1970  428 cars with 8000 tachs. It happened, period.

Bosscat40

It's   Super Drag Pak

Here is a Marti report on another one that I owned. It is now owned by John Cena, the wrestler.

Guess what you can call it a Drag-Pak..................that’s what Mercury called them, in fact mine says Super Drag Pak on the Marti :) I think the car needs to go to BJ and be advertised and hyped a bit more about how rare it is for a Boss 302 and the Super Drag Pak option..................sooooo Drag Pak, Drag Pak, Drag Pak hahahahah :)
