Yellow 2012s
« on: May 08, 2012, 01:10:08 pm »
How many yellow 2012 B-2 were produced?  I remember seeing them initially in some pre release road tests, but until recently, never saw one.  The color is not on Ford website, but recently I've seen 2 used ones for sale. Any input greatly appreciated.

Thanks VTStang.  2nd question.  Was the color dropped?  I can't remember seeing it on the "build your own" portion of the website.

Yes, Yellow Blaze was a 2012 color. For 2013, School Bus Yellow (more a orangish, yellow) is available on both the Base and Laguna Seca Boss 302's.

With all due respect to Yellow Blaze and those who own them, I can't understand why the Ford marketing whizzs  didn't offer Bright Yellow, the most popular color of both 69 and 70 in either year of the new cars... It's pretty obvious that the old colors are popular given the fact that Comp Orange(Calypso Coral) and School Bus Yellow(Grabber Orange) outnumber the next closet color 2 to 1. Then they really left out the potential Grabber Green market with Gotta Have It Green. Maybe they were trying to appeal to the Lime Metallic and Grabber Green crowd and just mixed the two colors together and GHIG was the result. Neat cars though and if I end up getting one it will be a 12 LS but still would have liked to have Bright Yellow and a back seat...

I'd still like to know when and why the yellow was dropped from the 2012 palette.  On the "build your Boss" Ford site, I only saw the yellow at the car's initial introduction.  Even today, at Ford's website, one can "design" a 2012, but yellow is not available.  Did Ford drop it because of the forthcoming School Bus 2013 color?

My order for Yellow Blaze was never fulfilled by Ford because they stopped making that color sometime in July/August '11.  I ended up buying one from a dealer that had it in stock.  I was never given a reason by Ford just that the color is no longer available, but a hint I got was that it had something to do with tsunami in Japan as the paint came from there.

I own one also.  I like the bright yellow also but this really pops at night under a street light.  Some what more of a gold.  I had a Gold 70 B2 that I wish I had back sitting next to this one.  That would be neat.

What I have read about the limited production of the Yellow Blace Metallic is that when the earth quake hit Japan the damage destroyed the paint manufacturing plant that made this color.  It's actually a tri coat.  Very expensive and really hard to match.  I also read that one was totaled already, so I guess 251 left.

I think the Yellow Blaze looks great, and pictures do not it do it justice. However, I would have been happy if Ford release the new Boss 302 in Pink as its only color, lol. Seriously though, its amazing to if you take a step back and look at todays Muscle Cars and how lucky we all are. This is definitely a generation that will be historical.......

Eric I know you are younger than me but I too missed the muscle car era. We ARE very fortunate to be experiencing this right now. Great time to be an American car fanatic. Mike G.

Indeed it is, Mike! Hence, why I never join in on being a critic on the little things (i.e color choices, options), and even the debate between Mopar, and Chevy. They are all great cars!
