REEVES Dyno Results 480 HP intake test
« on: May 17, 2012, 06:37:37 pm »
345 Cu. In. pump gas 240 .590 cam Engine. I feel that the most important Dyno numbers are the BMEP,It tells you how efficent the engines is.Reeves ran in the 170s.Modern CHI/ AirFlow Research
head type engines run in those numbers.Very Happy.Mini Plenuim made peak Tq.@5500 423.H.P.@
6500 478 The Stock Intake really runs well.Tq.@4800 403.H.P.@6700 465  E-BOSS Tq@5100 416.
H.P.@6500 473  The E-Boss runs Very close to the Mini Plenuim, and has the best average..The OEM
intake really holds its own,and was the only one that liked to rev.to 7000RPMS and only lost 13HP
to the mini and held its Tq up to the E-Boss!! All Manifolds lost Tq,and gained NO H.P. with 1inch open spacers.E-Boss intake fit best on the engine with the OEM style Felpro1248 gasket. Checkout the videos..Hope this info helps..

Good info. and surprising, at least to me, results.   Another interesting intake would be the B&A track boss after seeing how well the smaller port e-boss intake performed.

A Pinto, with a Boss 302 pushing over 400 HP =  :o

Great stuff, Reeves! Picking Kenny to build your motor, was definitely a smart move. I keep trying to blow my engine up, so I can have Kenny put his touches on it. lol  ;D

Eric....if it were me, I'd pull the engine & have Kenny build it now, rather than after it grenades ! LOL !

I was just kidding, although I do have fun with my Boss whenever I drive it. I am sure most here, will vouch for that. Kenny spoke with the person who built my motor, and he has also put his little fine tune into it. So technically, it has the "Maisano"
seal on it. Knock on wood, but I have yet to have any problems in the 8k miles I have owner her. :)

I can't wait to see your build, come together!  You better keep us all flooded with pics!

nadine, nice job !
Looks like the mini plem is the winner in the HP area but would be be a good choice
over a stock intake for the street ?
I am not sure as to why a dual plane manifold works better for street driving over a
single plane ?
It has always seemed to me that a single plane worked best for wide open throttle.
When I first started racing my dragster in pro bracket, I installed a single plane Edelbrock
single plane that had the carb cocked over to the side ? the manifold gave me 2 tenths increase
the very first pass.

Reeves, I love that picture of your Brothers mustang. And your Pinto is killer also,I will be
proud to have my engine in that car..Just some info..Back in the 1980s, i had a 71 340 duster
built the 340 and tested it on the same type dyno super flow 901. It made 470 H.P and 425 Tq.
The car weighted 2900lbs including driver,4speed and 488 gears with 12.5X29 slicks, super stock
leaf springs. and at Milan Dragway in Mich. the car would run 10.60s all day..

McKeever, I'm with ya! If you look at the graph, you will see how well in did in the usable driving
range,For what it lost on the top it had on the bottom. And if you don't want to look orignal, the
E-Boss intake is great.I'm also sure  with some porting and testing,i could get the E-Boss right
up or better the the Mini-plenuim..

Kenny,

Have you had any opportunity to test the E-Boss with Edelbrock's matching aluminum heads on a similar combo?

Interesting comparisons.  I guess I would wonder if the mini plenum would have even done better with a different carburetor size?
