New Reproduction 1969 Alternator Smog Bracket UPDATED 12-29-2012
JohnSlack:
I can finally announce that we have made tremendous progress on the C9ZE-9B450-B Alternator Smog Bracket casting for the 1969 Boss 302 Mustangs and Cougars. This bracket has been virtually unobtainable for decades and originals are very costly, if you can find one at all. The new reproduction will be an exact copy of the original with every feature of the original being faithfully copied in the new bracket.
I would like to thank Scott Fuller of Scott Fuller Reproductions for coaching me through this process. A rapid prototype with the FoMoCo Logo, the pattern marks, and part numbers has been made and I’m currently inspecting it in comparison with an original bracket and the factory blueprints. The Big news is that this part will be Ford Licensed and is all being done in the USA. The pattern maker and the foundry as well as the machining is all American, nothing offshore. This has allowed me to have hands on inspection and personal face to face contact with everyone involved in this process. This is ensuring the best quality reproduction we can make. The final tooling costs are still to be figured into the equation and the castings are yet to arrive, However I thought some of you guys might like to see there is a light in this tunnel. This will give an opportunity once again to have a new good bracket on your car.
The next step is the final detailing on the ram-up tooling plate, then it will be off to the Foundry for the test part, I will keep everybody up to date on the project. Hopefully by Mid to late Fall there will be parts. The layout for the bracket came from a complete Laser Scan of the original bracket, confirmed by using the Ford drawing.
First Cast Iron Prototype casting arrived at the pattern makers the day after Christmas. ALL U.S. made patterns and materials

Any idea what the cost will be on one of these bad boys???

This looks like welcome news for the '69 Boss community. I can't even imagine the amount of hours that went into the tooling for something like this.
Just out of curiosity, there were 1,600+ '69s made. Of those, X number are gone forever, Y amount doesn't need it leaving Z something that would want this part. How many z somethings do you need to justify making this project worthwhile?
