How To Test A Boss Rev Limiter
BOSS-STANG:
Aside from hooking up a Boss rev limiter to the engine and twisting her up to 6150 rpms, is there a way to bench test a Boss rev limiter ? I have one that I bough years ago as a working unit but haven't hooked it up yet to see if it works. My tach is currently unhooked from the previous owner and I've been dreading the task of hooking everything up again as I'm not much of a spark chaser. So is it possible ? :-\

Yes it can be done, but you need some special electonics lab equipment to generate a 12V switching waveform to simulate the points opening and closing at half the RPM. You could put any point style distributor in a fixture and spin the shaft with a drill or motor to act as a generator but you would need to spin it at over 3000 rpm.

Well so much for that idea. ;D Thankx.

I'm thinking that if you have a distributor rebuilder in your area who obviously has a distributor machine, you may be able to have them rig somehting up to check it....if your in norcal there are 2 that I know of.

I'm in WNY so I'd need to find a distributor shop in my area. But thankx for the suggestion. Thats probably the way to go. :D
