2nd Down Under Boss Nationals, October, 2014
« on: May 27, 2013, 07:43:13 am »
G'day all,

We're well into the planning for the 2nd Down Under Boss Nationals, to be held in the vicinity of Sydney, October 2014. Details will follow and my website will be up to date as things progress. www.bosskraft.com

Would love to see a bunch of my American Boss lovers here to enjoy the beach scenery planned, great cars, even better people and a bloody good time!

Cheers and thanks a million to Jeff & Randy, for this section they created here and for their support to the hobby. I sure appreciate it.

Frank, I'll ask the happy wife if she wants to go there. She has always wanted to go to Australia and now that she is retired...

We'll have a host accommodation, so don't bust a poofa valve booking something yet! :)

It'll be hosted in Wollongong, NSW, if that helps with planning. South of Sydney by a very scenic drive, yet close enough to enjoy Sydney and surrounding areas. Stay tuned and we'll post updates as we design the event. I'll update here as we go, too.

I'm not quite sure what a poofa valve is, but over here we bust a gut. I will wait to hear from you regarding accommodations and the type of cheese you have over there as well. Looking forward to the adventure and maybe seeing a kangaroo!

Let's just say that you don't want to bust a poofa valve, mate. Bit like blowing the power valve in your Boss Mustang..!

Mark, it's a compulsory event for you, so you best start planning now. We'll send the Texas Rangers after you if you don't turn up. You have a Boss 302, now you have responsibilities! ;)

I have been watching the fares for the flights from Madison, WI to Sydney. Most are in the $2200-2800 range. Layovers are in MN, TX, or LA and flight times total 23-40 hours. Unless you go first class ($10K per person!) do you get packed in like fish or can you kick back? That's a long time to be sitting down in an upright position. Laying down would be better on my back! How about a cargo ship?

I fly it all the time for business in the USA and I simply fly cattle class. Business class is a complete waste of money, in my opinion, when looking at a cost benefit analysis. I'd use my points to upgrade, but instead I use them to fly my daughter around for free.

It's not bad in cattle. I would highly recommend flying Virgin Australia, as they have (by far) the best planes and best inflight entertainment and their service is second to none. Personally, I like to stop off in LAX for a while, before connecting (day or two where possible) and then make the 14hrs from there. Just jump up and go for a walk as often as you can, if you haven't done what I do and pop a sleeping pill and crash for the majority of the trip!

G'day Ed, sorry about the slow response. We've been very busy setting up our new resto shop in Sydney, so unable to enjoy the simple things in life such as the Boss registry! There is no scheduled regularity to this event. I am only doing it as it's the 45th anniversary of the Boss and I thought it a fitting time to have one. This one looks to be in the Wollongong, NSW area, which is beaut and only about an hour south of Sydney on the coast. Awesome beaches, too. Hope to be able to put some more work into the event shortly and advise accordingly. Hope you could make the trip, Ed. We live about 30-40 mins from where it'd be held, so you'd be welcome to stay, as long as you can tolerate Follmer's snoring...!

I travel from Qld to MN regularly and if you want a break in the trip, a good layover is Hawaii.
Used to be direct flights from MSP to HNL but not sure if that route is still available.
