Steve, his brother Mike and Dad came to the conclusion that the original block did not add a significant amount of value to their car so they decided to pass on it after driving to Washington to take pictures of the VIN stampings/casting dates.  9F02Z172996 was inspected and purchased by another 69 B9 owner that is wrapping up his restoration.  The consensus from notable restorers, I talked to before Steve, was that a usable original VIN stamped block matching the car was worth $10-12k.
