Reunion suggestions to help Randy
« on: February 03, 2015, 08:33:00 pm »
Thoughts:

Central location, perhaps a convention center for an indoor show.

Mid summer for best chance at good weather.

     Track nearby.

     Mugs?

     Good hotels and restaurants.

     The sky.

That should help Randy. Any other questions? What can we do to help (perhaps stay out of the way)?

We need a reunion out West, as the last few have been 'back East'.  In 2003, we had a nice gathering at Laguna Seca, and some of the fellas got to take their cars on track there, (let's see that corkscrew photo, Kevin!)
I am not sure of the logistics involved by with the great Boss communities in both SoCal and Washington, the Monterey Area seems like a natural...  My 2 cents...

If you look at a map of America... Tulsa, Oklahoma is almost smack dab in the middle of the country and gets my vote for sure.  They've got the road course and drag strip nearby plus the perfect place to stay at the Marriot with acres and acres of room for trailers, plus the Hilton just a few blocks away.  Maybe it could be held in conjunction with the annual Shelby show that's been going on for 35 years or so.

Carlisle. Closer to the majority of the population of this country than anywhere else as far as current established events. 2/3 of the population of the US is located east of the Mississippi, and most of that is north of the Mason-Dixon line. No other Boss reunion or gathering before or since has approached what was at Carlisle in 2005. If they hold it there, and I still own a Boss, I'll bring it.

I agree with you. I was in Tulsa in 2005 when we had the convention and I thought that we had a nice turn out. I would like. to see it again there if the Shelby Club would let us. Just my thought

History of the Reunions 'We' had and the Shelby conventions in the past, we've learned that central is not always the best. Of course, everyone wants in their back yard. So everyone will suggest their backyard. Going back to 'The history thing', the cars are where the people are. Should really think where is the population? Carlisle and then Dearborn, in that order, showed us where the people and cars are.

Having a track is high on the priority list for me. But perhaps most people won't care either way.

We have plenty of time to get the cars done and find out where we should be looking.

Wonder if we could set up a poll to see where people would be coming from? I'd want names to go with that poll so we don't get someone from South Africa voting a bunch of times for their back yard.

I'm in from WI.

Someone with better and wider skills could post a spreadsheet to keep track of the votes (even though it might not be our decision). I was using skittles for keeping track and ended up eating most of them. I could use cheese curds, but they turn green after awhile, further skewing the totals.  :(

This logic is the best.

Where the current BOSS cars are located can be very different since 05.
I personally would like it in Dearborn if a vote matters.

Selfishly I will vote for Dearborn.  I was not well enough to attend the last one.  2005 Carlisle is near and dear to my heart so that would be my strong second option.

Having attended all 3, I would vote for Dearborn or Carlisle.  Carlisle was amazing due to the huge number of cars, but Dearborn was especially cool with the factory tour and track time.

Regardless of where it ends up, I'll be there. :)

I know...call me biased; however who wouldn't want to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the BOSS 302 back home in Dearborn, MI where it all started??? Factory tour of an assembly plant, track time, and camaraderie just to mention a few all at Ford World Headquarters. Believe me...2019 will be here before you know it...
