kkx id parts are unique 69 boss 429 only installed at kar kraft plant & if missing very hard to find.  generally 69 b9s bring more $ because of difficaulty in restoring them& the price of parts.  even thou there are more 69s than 70s  the 69s being first built had more of them changed into racecars than 70s. so finding a 70 that has been unmolested is easier than finding a unmolested 69 b9 so 70 b9 racecars are a rare find .   I think the early 69 b9s having more unique parts & more history & having a 428 scj drivetrain in them when delivered at KK before being yanked out makes the most valuable.    But there are some 70s that I think are more valuable than some69s depending on 70 color combo GG-GO-CC- with the white interior are very rare & very desirable color combos & then there are the rare 70 pastels color b9s with only 2 pastel/white cars built & both still exist & then there is the RARE 69 b9 silver jade (painted by mistake)only one.

Setting aside the color issue for the time how would one without yours or someone elses expert eyes identify the kkx parts ?
Is there a published list of the parts unique to a 69 Boss 429 or the 70's
I ask because in seeking a car I am not looking for a finished trailered  car but rather one that has been sitting around or hiding in a garage somewhere. And when I inspect it I would want a better idea of what is actually missing. Not the obvious stuff like smog etc but the smaller more obscure parts that give true authenticity.
As you said it is more likely that a 69 was raced and perhaps some of the parts had gone missing.

Ed , You mention the silver jade car , which is going to be at the Chicago Show in November. What is some of the history behind the car and how did it become a mistake ? Steve

The Silver Jade car has an initial invoice showing it as Raven Black and a door tag with paint code A for Raven Black but the second invoice shows it as Silver Jade and all of the areas of the car that weren't painted red by the previous owner have original Silver Jade paint.  There is no Raven Black paint on the car nor was there ever.  So somewhere along the line at Ford a mistake was made and this car left as Silver Jade instead of Raven Black.

this odd b9 has been in co. its whole life being sent there a year afterit was built june 1970 or so & ford finaced as I think ford was just trying to get rid of leftover cars at KK plant after shutting it down.  Since kk plant wasn't set up to repaint entire car & being a unique b9 body with b9 shock towers ford couldn't switch this car over to a b2  -mach1 - or 69 Shelby so after arriving at kk plant in a non b9 color it just sat around till ford cleaned house there.  I had been to Denver many times over the years & got to know bob becker who lives there & has several b9s & keeps track of them in that area & at last count he knew of 30 or so in co..  He told me that when he looked at a 69 red painted b9 he saw greenish paint in trunk area that looked like it was there originally & the owner said when he got the car it was green & he didn't like it so he painted it red years ago & he never got a mati report or an invoice as he didn't care about any of that as he was more of a gearhead car guy who was a street racer type. So I flew out to co. & looked the car over & checked all the serial #s & when we got marti papers & invoices they said first built black but second invoice says silver jade so there was a mistake at Dearborn plant.  What is odd is that the owner never checked the door tag color A black & choose to repaint it black (being a desirable b9 color) & painted it red instead since it was his favorite color.  We had to get him a real red b9 to trade + pay for a new paint job + extra $ to boot to do the deal done.  hard to say what this b9 is worth really since it wasn't special ordered silver jade just mistakenly painted that way & not even close to looking black. Maybe there was a silver jade mach1 in front of this b9 & just before going into paint got yanked out of line or something. Just guessing of course :)

Ed, When we were at the previous Chicago show in November they made an announcement that they would have the silver jade car on display in 2015. I didn't know at the time that it was in your shop. Steve

Neat car in that color. I remember hearing the story from Bob. Like Ed said,..it's hard to put a value on it but I think in the end I'd rather own a black one.

I was glad I could help the owner get that car because he really likes Silver Jade, fortunately I got the call on the red car that he used for trade at the same time so we were able to make the deal happen. Bob Becker was a huge help and of course Ed doing the inspections.  I couldn't bring myself to buy a Silver Jade car as it's not my color of choice so I was happy to pass it along to Mason.  Excited to see it whenever it gets done.
