1 of 16 ever produced 69 Cougar Eliminator!
« on: March 10, 2017, 05:05:12 pm »
I am currently restoring a 1969 Cougar Eliminator, not a Boss but just thought you guts would like this car! It is a 428 SCJ, Super Drag pack car,1 of 16 produced. The Cougar registry has only 5 survivors left! The car has 4.30 gears Nodular rearend, C6 automatic.I'm doing a complete restoration, inside and out, top to bottom,I am about 80 percent done, about another month and it will be ready for paint! The car is going to be for sale when finished.

These 16 cars were sent to Mercury dealers for drag racing in 69 to compete with the big blocks of the time, very rare car! The only other drag cars were the 2 Boss 429 Cougars in 69 and 70!

Plinker,
Sounds like a very nice and rare Cougar you have, good luck in your project!
Just for INFO....Both 1969 Boss 429 Cougars were build by KK and one was for Dyno Don, the other for Fast Eddie!  Both still exist and were up dated to 70 sheetmetal.   One is scheduled to be at the Cougar 50th in Dearborn this June..!!!

Hello Plinker, You have a very unique Cougar, and best of luck with your restoration efforts. Years ago, I owned a, partially disassembled, Comp Orange 69 'R' Drag-Pak Cat: 91R580695... long gone now. Still have a few extra parts around for these Eliminators. Feel free to give me a shout if you happen to need anything. boss_elim@yahoo.com

Hi Plinker, I have some spare Eliminator specific parts, and parts that are shared throughout the model year; both NOS and used.
You are welcome to contact me by e-mail at:  boss_elim@yahoo.com  for further discussion on this topic.

Thanks.

Nice car!  I also once owned a rare '69 Eliminator, a blue Boss 302 powered car.  At the time I believe it was one of only about 13 known to exist.  I'm sure that number is much higher now.  It sat beside my Acapulco Blue '69 Boss 302 Mustang, so I had the Ford and Mercury version of the '69 Boss 2's, both in same color!  Although I think Mercury called it Bright Blue Metallic or something.

One of many cars I should have kept!  ::)
'64 1/2 Convertible (SOLD)
'64 1/2 hardtop
'66 Bronco, 5.0 fuel injected, restomod
'67 Mustang Junior!
'68 Bronco Half Cab
'69 BOSS 302  9F02G196425 (SOLD)
'74 Bronco 302 auto
'89 Saleen (bought new, never modified!)
'96 Bronco XLT
'08 F350 Lariat Crew Cab dually
'16 T350 Transit Cargo Van dually

If we would of only knew enough to keep them back then, I had a 1970 Mach 1 ,428 SCJ, which my brother and me pulled the 428 and shoe horned in a 429 SCJ, it ran the low 11 seconds in the quater mile,4.11 gears,4 speed, I beat the crap out of that car!

The Cougar is about 90 percent restored, just the trunk lid and a few other small items to strip , repair and prime! I have a question about the underside of the hood, this 1 is painted black, should it be black or yellow like the outside of the car, would like to have it factory original!

Underside of hood, deck lid, tail lamp panel inner & outer surfaces, and trunk floor area are all to painted body color.
