Earliest Vin number found to date or in Registry.
« on: April 12, 2017, 12:25:12 pm »
Does anyone know this information? Just wondering if the first one has been found or documented. I have one built the first week, possible the first car.

Moss,

Contact Rick. He maintains a database in the Boss 351's. Check with him to see if your VIN is already in his database. Mine was built the first month of regular production but on the last day of the month, November 30, 1970.

Hi Billy

Hard to figure which car you are asking about, as it looks like you have have had a FEW Boss 351's over the years and sold.

If you are talking about 135273................though early (don't you have a Marti/should show buck date of around Nov 10th)  so I  don't think it was THE FIRST.

Likely to be first week of production, but you would have to figure out rotation considering DSO and FORD'S NEEDS (the Cobo car 135216 wasn't even first)  They delayed the DSO 89 cars allowing 20 RETAIL/Sold cars to be be build (not counting 135216) as Ford always "got the money" (read learned buyers can cancel orders if takes too long).

Mark
P.S.  If you are talking about a different car then that is different, just couldn't glean anything from your prior posts and Rick could/would help.    I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THE DATE CODE ON THE RADIATOR (we kind of know the date of the early cars)  or the date of the blue tag for the D1ZF-ZA.   Boss 351's are hard enough to fine correct Boss 351 parts -------when you start to look at date codes IT REALLY GET'S rough for owners that PAID for pats but are found to be incorrect for dates.  (We are all trying and it is getting to the point THAT TRADING PARTS (for correct dates) is better than buying wrong!

Good evening,
The 1st Boss 351 is 1F02R134960. Mine is 1F02R135325, the 39th Boss 351 built. A lot of Boss 351s were built on 11/2/70. I have 27 Boss 351s built that day. Mine is one of them. I'm very thankful for owners sharing Marti Reports . I have just over 600 Boss 351s accounted for, some are just engine blocks, some are known destroyed Boss 351s. I keep getting more vins. I received six more this week unknown to me.
Stay tuned! Boss 351 Book #2 in the beginning stages,

Just found 1F134961 today, complete assembled BOSS 351 engine only, minus carb(has Holley) and valve covers(vintage aftermarket). Power steering pump and cooler and alternator are still present. Fan to bellhousing, distributor to oil pan.  It appears to still have the original radiator and heater hoses. Also found was the complete Nodular rear axle assembly and sway bar(no springs or shock plates), out of the same car, supposedly the trans is around, but haven’t found it yet.

UPDATE:
Just found the VIN matching, RUG-AV1 transmission with the levers and some shift rods, still looking for the shifter.

1F05R100053 was invoiced on  08-04-1970, sent to Las Vegas convention center for show 375-G-340. Car is featured in September 1970 Motor Trend Mustang Makes it happen in 1971. You can see the Boss 351 on the fender was changed from 302 to 351. The 51 looks painted rather than sticker.
