Lucas Hot Rod Oil
« on: November 10, 2018, 01:26:14 pm »
Anybody use Lucas Hot Rod engine oil ? It has high level of  zinc additive. How does this compare with others on the market with zinc ? Your thoughts.

When I was deep into air cooled Porsches (356, 911) and B2's we used Brad Penn.  Also has Zinc.   Lucas has been around for a long time and I currently use some of their products.  I don't see how you can go wrong with Lucas products.

I am also interested in what others might add to your question.

Looks like they changed the name to PennGrade but I also see Brad Penn PenGrade oil. Are these 2 different oils?

There has been a slow to market , as Brad Penn seemed to dry up (Pulled from distribution???).    Had to use a combo of CompCams oil and Zinc additive for some break ins recently.

Since I dump the oil a number of times on fresh motor...probably can just use oil and zinc.  (It was Lucas for the zinc)

I would think it us as good as the brad Penn which I get shipped buy from either speedway or Amazon, been using 10-30 for 15 yrs or so.  A lot of discussion on zinc oils in the search engine within the boss website.    8)
