OEM Power Steering Hoses
« on: May 14, 2019, 11:54:04 am »
I'm looking for original Ford control valve to insulator hoses both pressure and return. Probably a pipe dream but it can't hurt to try! Just received supposedly best reproduction set from NPD part# C8ZA-3A713-A and C8ZA3494A  and not happy with their quality. For starters return line has easily visible crack in double pipe flair.
Thanks Mike.

Have you looked at Blue Dot Specialties? That is their gig making original style P/S hoses.

+1 on Blue Dot

What kind of car are you working on?
Here's what I would use for '69 or '70 BOSS 302:

                        MPC#                NPD#                Blue Dot#
Lower Pressure   C7ZZ-3494-B   3494-41B          PS4U2
Lower Return   C8ZZ-3A713-A   3A713-50B   PS3U4

Either form Blue Dot or NPD I think these hoses are form the same supplier.  Is that what you got from NPD?

NPD sells both inexpensive and expensive hoses. I think the expensive are the Blue Dot. I used all of the most expensive hoses on my car and still had one blowout in Marysville spaying PS fluid all over the underside and street.  Luckily we were at BOSS Motors and Greg Boss let me use the shop and lift to get it fixed. Craig Johnson just happened to have an original hose in his trailer I used to get back up for the show. A few months later,  Craig had the same hose blowout. They definitely need to do a better job manufacturing these things.

Then I loaned Craig an original hose so he could get home from my house. The hoses need to be better!

Mike, I can help you out with the 3A713-A hose. I similarly blew out the same hose years ago and then stocked a couple of NOS ones for the future. $125. Plus shipping

Thanks for the responses guys. I’ll let you know on the hose Rich when I get home. Currently on the return leg of a Parts acquisition trip from Texas to Vancouver BC.
