Parts Are Parts But Some eBay Sellers Are Out of Touch With Reality

For fun I did a general search on eBay for 1969, 1970, & 1971 Ford Boss items. I looked at the cheap end of things first and found a lot of plastic and die cast models, then for kicks and giggles I changed the sort for the high end of things. At the high end there were some high end cars starting with a couple of BOSS 429 cars at $275,000 and $269,950. Then in third place was a very nice Acapulco Blue 1971 BOSS 351 Mustang for $128,990.

After passing through all the other cars and the high priced BOSS 429 parts I got into good stuff, the BOSS 302 parts. I posted this in the "Off Topic Posts" because some of these sellers are off their rockers with their eBay prices and ads.

How about buying a refurbished "1971 BOSS 302" carburetor with a D1ZF-9510-VA part number for $1999.50. Free shipping too? No way, its only an additional $59.38. (eBay auction #132679332428)

Then the next BOSS 302 carb, stamped-in part number of D0ZF-9510-Z is a crusty piece of crap missing both float bowls. This seller is only asking $1845.00. Free shipping for this little gem? Of course not. Just a mere $50 more and it will show-up at your door. (eBay auction #193040124308)

Need a pair of BOSS 302 heads? how about auction #123726133311? For a mere $1,600.00 the seller has a nice mis-matched set of D0ZE-6090-A and D1ZE-6090-AA BOSS 302 heads. Its OK because the seller says "One head is a 1970 head while one is a D1 service head but functionally the same." What about free shipping on these gems? Nope, the seller says they'd prefer  you'd pick them up in Harrisburg, North Carolina, but for a mere $141.91 the seller will go out of his way and ship them to you.

Is it me or are these sellers and their prices for what they are selling just a little unreasonable and out of touch with reality?

Yea crack pipe pricing for sure but the heads and the D1 carb says make offer. This guy is trolling with those prices. I've seen worse though.

I paid $1000.00  gosh... 15 years ago for a date matched set of heads that still needed a complete rebuild.  12K in my engine at that time and nowhere near correct... but if you are a period correct or numbers matching kinda guy then.. if you ain't got it, its gonna cost ya' . Whats that old saying.." you can always go down but never go up"....

There is a guy in St.Louis that advertises stuff on craigslist.  Same stuff has been on there for a couple years that I know of as nothing ever sells.  How about $3500 for a set of hub caps and trim rings.

So do I. The market has become flooded with foolish trollers. Like old Crazy Eddie used to say on his commercials, "Prices that are Insane". I just recently saw a B9 carb forsale on eBay for $5500. In 1969 my local Ford dealer had a brand new 1969 Black Boss 429 for that price. Who'd ever thought that in 50 years someone would ask that much money just for the B9 carb?

That Boss 302 parts carb looks familiar.  I gave my friend one that looks like that about 10 years ago but I heard that a slimy Detroit dealer made off with it later.

Yes they are,,,,but if they are SMART they will come back to reality,or they are stuck with the parts.
At this time our cars themselves are not appreciating the we hoped for and it is a cycle,with ebbs and flows,so they will need to adjust.
