Range of KK #'s for "S" and "T" engines
« on: August 23, 2019, 11:31:18 pm »
Does anyone know approximately what KK# range got the "S" engine, and where the "T" engine started? The common knowledge is the first 279 cars got the "S" engine. Does this start with KK1201 or KK1215 ? Does the "S" engine cars stop at KK1480 or KK1494? Or are there irregularities with cars out of sequence getting the "S" and "T" engines? Feel free to post your KK and engine type to narrow down the range.

                                        Thanks, Bernie

kk 1540 is being restored in GA. and has an s motor  and 1538 is reportedly has an s motor ( fred ballard)  so when and why do these cars have s motors  as we all know kk#s have nothing to do with serials #s at kk and the way engines were shipped and stored at KK and that u cant tell an s motor from a t motor from the outside other than the engine tag and do u think KK even cared at the time of the changeover VS just getting rid of the s motors for the more faster t motors.  So  anybody with a late 14oos kk# or early 1500s #kk  that think they have an original engine in there car please report in to the boss registry so we can try to figure this out!

KK 2034 was an unrestored 12,000 original mile 2 owner car with an S engine, matching VIN stamp.

KK 1486 was shipped from Kar-Kraft with an 820-T engine fitted with Magnesium Rocker Covers.
KK 2049 was shipped from Kar-Kraft with an 820-T engine fitted with Magnesium Rocker Covers.

There was no discrimination about these sort of details at the time of assembly in 1969.  It was a "Get 'er Done" philosophy.
