1970 Boss 302 - Thoughts?
« on: October 04, 2019, 07:14:33 am »

Everyone, I am new to the forum and I am in the market for a Boss 302.

Doing some looking...  What are everyone's thoughts on this car?

Thanks for the input!

Based on what can be seen it looks great to me.  Not 100% certain, as I couldn't compare vins, but I think this was a members car that was in the for sale section on here and the SAAC forum a while back... maybe 6-8 months ago.  I can't remember the members username but I looked back through the cars for sale on both forums and couldn't find it leading me to think he may have deleted the for sale posts.

Maybe the former owner will see this and chime in.  Good luck!

I think John Kammer (forum name JohnKammer) might know this car. He is in Ohio. May want to PM him just to see if he does or would want to inspect it with/for you. He's a very knowledgeable B2 guy.

Car has all the high $$ stuff: distributor, smog pump, rev limiter, etc...

You need to check it out in person with someone that has B2 knowledge to know what you are getting.

Good Luck!

Nice car. Good detailing... Unless some major flaws are found, likely worth the money.
Keep in mind 1 thing; If it's too nice, you'd be losing $ to drive it.

That being said, some minor criticism only bcz you asked:
-shiny spokes on repro rims
-car seems to sit a bit high so could be out of spec springs; I'd like other opinions here
-bottom and axle housing seems a bit rough. Not sure if it's mild pitting or just poor prep/paint.

If the rest of the orig engine checks out, what's not to like about this Boss? Love that color combo and have since I saw 3-4 chicks pouring out of the car in the high school parking lot, circa '75... The guy driving had his hands full....

Go check it out...&, after coplmenting him on his car, ask the owner to tell you the worst 2-3 things about the you can understand its needs. Who knows, some people are surprisingly honest and you'll get the low-down. Otherwise, verify details, trust your eyes and the judgment of an experienced Boss owner.
