Forum Performance "SUCKS"
« on: November 24, 2019, 06:17:56 pm »
Is this forum site getting really painful to use or is it me ?

I would be willing to contribute funds / membership fee to get this dog working better.

It's not you.  I'm getting 20 and 30 second response times.  I have taken to just having another browser tab open.  I've actually just logged on a banking site and checked a balance while awaiting this thread to respond.  I hit around 10 Forums a day, Cars, camping/hiking and some other stuff.  This is the slowest of the 10.

Same here.

Reboot may be the answer?

Edit: I too would be open to contribute $ & some of my time to assist with the server.

Cheers,
Ray

I agree. Maybe there's still some underlying problems from when it got hacked? Either way, an upgrade is in order. This is by far the oldest style forum that I'm a member of. Its old code. I mean, we can't even upload pictures through this site anymore w/out going to a 3rd party because the security is so dated. If it takes a small member fee to pay for an upgraded and more modern user-friendly web service, then so be it. I'm in for the long haul.

Wow!  At 5:30am this Monday morning I was expecting the 20-30 second delay but it is quick!

Maybe it got fixed since yesterday?  Hope so. :)

Yup, it's painful and has been since the 'hacks'. We've suffered from bad performance and no photo uploading anymore since then. It definitely needs updating, faster hardware, better hosting whatever. I don't mind the format we have and I would help do whatever it take to keep Adds off the site. I can't stand some other sites that are polluted with that junk..

I would love to hear comments from the folks that run this and see what their thoughts are. I'm willing to step up with $$$ and time to help out if needed. It's time to pull the trigger.

Boys,
This is not a bag on our moderators, just some observations on the issues...Yes, the site IS slow after the hacks. Not able to upload pictures is also an inconvenience. Many previous pictures were lost. Server issues, yes. Lack of maintenance, quite a possibility. That said, 'other' websites that we members also visit (with the exact same format), are up and running with no problems. The members on here are willing to help, if the moderators/owners need us. So, what are the answers to correct it? That would be questions for the moderators/owners.

Current lifelong project:
1969 Mustang Fastback/FOX chassis, 6 speed, 4 wheel discs, with a modern Can-Am 494 (Boss 429), Kaase headed, intake mounted with a 1425 cfm 'B' Autolite Inline carb, ala Trans-Am style…Whew!

This forum has provided me with so much value over the years that I'd be happy to make a donation to restore the full functionality of the site.

This morning early it was quick, just like the old days.  Now at 2 in the afternoon it took about 20 seconds to respond.  :'(
