Hurst Shifter Handle and Knob

The 1970 BOSS 302 Mustang and Cougar Toploader transmission came equipped with a 4-speed shifter manufactured by Hurst. It has a chrome handle with "HURST" stamped in big letters on both sides. It is also stamped with the number "7275" on the end that slides into the shifter body arm.

Note the handles were not always stamped in the same direction. Compare above and below.

Ford used different Hurst shifters in other cars. For example, the Torino shifter had a longer handle with a little less curve. The Torino part is stamped "7277".

The 1971 Mustang handle is stamped "7831". It has a slightly different angle, a different taper and it does not have the flat area on the threads as the knob set screw was deleted.

Time to get a grip on the famous Hurst T-handle knob. The knob is made out of aluminum. The graphics have a painted black background. There is an allen set screw in the side.
